COERR Organized World Peace Day in the Border Temporary Shelters

   Every year, September 21st is observed as World Peace Day, in an effort to build peace and end violence. This year, there was concern about social, economic and climate change.

   In displaced persons’ context, COERR organized the World Peace Day event in 9 Temporary Shelters to have the members of these communities build peace in their minds, focus on how to end violence of all means, listen to each other, share and give, eliminate discrimination, respect persons’ value, dignity and liberty, create unity and participation.

   Highlights in the events were Prayers for peace, Giving opinion of peace in writing in cloth board, singing and performances relating to unity building, etc.

   COERR Mae Hong Son supported the youth groups to organized the World Peace Day events on September 21st, with the climate action for peace, starting with prayers, telling the history of the Day, songs and performance to promote peace and livelihood program. There were 400 participants in Ban Mai Nai Soi in Mae Hong Son’s Mueang District and 300 participants in Ban Mae Surin, Khun Yuam District.

   For COERR Mae Sarieng, the events were cerebrated in Ban Mae La Oon and Ban Mae Lama Luang in Mae Hong Son’s Sobmoei District on September 18th and 19th respectively. The theme of Wishing for Peace was made in a variety of activities such as singing, performance, debate, quiz, etc. in which many interested audience attended.

World Peace Day at Mae La in Tak Province

   In Mae Sot, COERR organized World Peace Day events in Mae La in Tha Song Yang District, Umpiem in Poppra District and Nupo in Umphang District, Tak Province on September 20, 2019. There were 300 participants in Mae La, including 183 female and 117 male attended.

World Peace Day at Umpiem Temporary Shelter, Tak Province

   At Umpiem, the World Peace Day was cerebrated with prayers for peace and traditional performance that mentioned about respect of persons’ value and dignity, end violence and discrimination, understand equality and diversity, learn to share and care for living things, keep unity and open for participation of all community members. There were 500 displaced persons attending the event.

World Peace Day at Nupo Temporary Shelter in Tak Province

   COERR organized the World Peace Day in Nupo Temporary Shelter in Tak’s Umphang District, on September 20th. Highlights were drawing contest concerning Dream of Peace; ethnic performances, and sharing ideas of peace building in cloth board expressing how to love others and to heal the heart of the war-related stress.
